Overcoming Anxiety by Eliot Smith
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Take a look at the spine–overcoming anxiety by Eliot Smith. No joke but kind of funny in a sad sort of way.

If you have anxiety…
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
If you have anxiety, 360 pages of info is overwhelming. Usually anxiety is not that complicated. Start with something simple that gets right to the point of reducing your anxiety (I did the program at selftherapy.org and loved it). Then if you want to become an expert, read a book like this.. highly informational, but not all that practical.

Perfect for High Paced Life
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This book was perfect for me (a New Yorker), because I am the typical city man: fast paced life, lots of stress, and lots of anxiety. My high stress lifestyle, is derived from my high stress job. I almost didnt have time to read this book in fact, unitl my therapist insisted that I do so. I am almost done with the book and I wanted to thank the authors for providing me with great insight on my problem and more importantly for the solutions I have started to take to help myself. They made it quite clear the vitality of living a less-stress life. Now if only they could write Dummies guide to New York Streets and Traffic. Thanks Again from the Big Apple. Thomas

Disorganized
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Abolsutely one of the worst self-help books I have read. There isn’t any structure, and it’s not simplistic. The advice given is helpful but the authors then reverse the whole deal. Its like one chapter says this will be helpful, and then another chapter says it wont. It just goes all over the place and you cant really follow what the authors are trying to get at.
A book I highly reccemend for anxiety and depressive related disorders is “Feel the fear and do it anyway” Much more simplistic, easier to read and get thru. And much more cheerful.
I also dont like that these authors have seperated anxiety and depression from one another. I guess they do have a new book coming out that combines them both. It will be interesting to see if they have learned anything from their last two failures.
But for someone that wants quick and easy advice, this book is certainly not for them. I’m afraid that this book of jargon will make it more confusing.

This is NOT a self-help Book. If you want a Self-Help Book, do your research and buy one. This book is a REFERENCE book about anxiety disorder. and is a GOOD ONE~!

You can LIVE with anxiety !
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Hi All
Firstly, this is a really helpful book… easy to read and putting all your fears in easy to understand words. There is LIVE after and during anxiety and panic disorders. Secondly, as per other reviews, Magnesium, calcium and vit B supplements do help to lessen anxiety. Try it, but first speak to your doctor.
GREAT READ ! Thanks Laura and Charles.

therapist recommends this book to clients
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
In my rural mental health counseling practice, I have recommended this book to about 50 clients who experience anxiety. Each client said that the book described them, helped them feel understood, had specific ideas of what to do about the problem – and that it is fun and an easy read. I highly recommend this book as a “bibliography” resource for therapists.

Here’s practical advice on dealing with anxiety
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is an invaluable book for these times of high anxiety! It’s a practical guide to dealing with fears, worries and anxiety attacks. The authors’ writing style is appealingly laid-back and friendly and their advice is sound, whether they’re talking about the triggers to anxiety, remedy options, or how to know when professional help is needed. I highly recommend this book.

Helpful Information in a Simple format
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The book is written in a format that allows the reader to jump around and only read the topics that may apply to his/her situation. I found it helpful after reading just portions of several chapters. I have a greater understanding of identifying and treating the problem.

Fantastic
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I love the dummies series. Despite thier name they are typically a well written, well researched and balanced resource. The authors of this one included a comprehensive look at anxiety with a wide variety of interventions to suit many people. Helpful without being dry or preachy, it’s great for clinician and self-helper alike. A must-have for your bookshelf if you work with people with anxiety or have anxiety yourself.

Magnesium can speed up relief; please read this review!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I am very familiar with the pain of anxiety, panic attacks, and agoraphobia for I suffered from these maladies for several decades. During those years of suffering I believed that my problems were purely mental and underwent treatment by psychiatrists, psychologists, and hypnotherapists. I took various prescribed medications and read many books such as this, but experienced little relief. And then something wonderful happened: I began taking a daily supplement of chelated magnesium (for a different ailment) and shortly thereafter experienced a significant diminishment of anxiety in addition to cure of the ailment for which I had originally taken the supplemental magnesium. There seemed to be no explanation for why taking supplemental magnesium caused this wonderful loss of anxiety until the publication in 2003 of the important book The Miracle of Magnesium by Dr. Carolyn Dean. Early in her book Dr. Dean reveals that a major cause of anxiety and panic attacks is deficiency of magnesium and that magnesium deficiency is quite common in the U.S. Therefore, I beg all sufferers of anxiety, panic attacks, and agoraphobia — whatever else you may do — please purchase and read The Miracle of Magnesium by Dr. Carolyn Dean and please try the magnesium supplementation which she recommends. It may change your life as has changed mine.
