AnxietyFree Kids An Interactive Guide for Parents and

Anxiety-Free Kids offers parents strategies that help children become happy and worry free, methods that relieve a child’s excessive anxieties and phobias, and tools for fostering interaction and family-oriented solutions. Using a unique companion approach that offers two books in one—a practical, reader-friendly book for parents and a fun workbook for kids—this solutions-oriented guide utilizes the cognitive-behavioral approach to therapy by integrating the parent in the child’s self-help process.

Research has shown that if left untreated, children with anxiety disorders are at higher risk to perform poorly in school, to have less developed social skills, and to be more vulnerable to substance abuse. The author employs cognitive-behavioral therapy, the most empirically supported treatment of anxiety disorders, along with a family approach to build a supportive team to help kids with anxiety successfully overcome their worries.

Covering the six most commonly occurring anxiety disorders in childhood—generalized anxiety, separation anxiety, specific phobias, social phobias, panic disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder—this book gives kids and their parents successful strategies for achieving relaxation, conquering worries, challenging faulty thinking patterns, developing positive self-talk, and facing one’s fears.more info

Anxiety does not have to be a constant state. “Anxiety-Free Kids: An Interactive Guide for Parents and Children” is a parent’s guide to dealing with their child’s anxieties and phobias, so that they can face them now before they develop into lifelong problems. Doubling as an advice guide for parents and an activity book for younger readers in dealing with their fears, “Anxiety-Free Kids” is a unique approach to childhood phobia, highly recommended.

Superb Resource for Parents, Children and Therapists
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
As a psychologist who sees children with anxiety disorders, I was extremely impressed with Dr. Zucker’s book. The book has practical and sensible ideas for parents. Unlike other books I’ve seen, it also has a unique pull-out section for children so they can better understand and master their own fears. I also found the book had new ideas for me as a therapist that I can utilize in my practice.

I really loved this book. I think it is one of the best I have read on the topic. It is very professional, being based on research and best practices. It is highly readable, comprehensive and offers effective, step-by-step actions to improve the daily lives of children (and adults) who experience a variety of anxiety disorders. To me, it is a one-stop shop for responsible understanding and treatment.

It is presented in an easy to understand, and easy to use format. The book synthesizes a wide range of therapeutic approaches in a manner that can be easily translated into immediate application by the layman. The Best Anxiety Book for Parents and Kids Both!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Dr. Bonnie Zucker is one of the brightest young therapists I know. Her book reflects this fact. It is a “must have” for parents as well as for therapists treating anxiety, and the principles of CBT are useful for adults as well. This book will open communication between parent and child and fortify children as they face the challenges of growing up.

It is clearly written, encouraging, and will calm parents and assure them they are on the right track using this approach. Especially important since anxious children make anxious parents even more anxious and need a way to break the cycle.

Dr. Zucker offers a fresh, well written and practical guide for parents who have noticed anxiety in their child and wish to help through a combination of information, structured exercises and deep empathy. As a psychologist who works with many couples who have children–this is now the book I reference when such issues arise.

Excellent Resource – No Other Book Like It
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Dr Zucker’s book is truly one of a kind – the idea of pairing a book for BOTH the parent and the child is excellent – the book is easy to read – puts forth workable suggestions and strategies – and enables me to integrate my child in the process of learning how to deal with every day issues stemming from anxiety – I highly recommend this book to any parent regardless of the level of anxiety your child may be experiencing!
